For Whom

#BetterWriter

31 Days to Become a Better Writer - Day 24

Today's Challenge:
I’d love to hear how you started blogging and what your dream for your writing is. No dream is too big or small. None of this, “I started blogging because I was bored. The end.” No, craft a story. Make it interesting. Make me understand why you worry yourself silly about things like SEO, grammar, and why we all just don’t give up?

Writing

This is a combination of two previous posts:
The 30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 20 and A Blogoversary Giveaway

I started blogging the day I found out I was pregnant with Damaris in 1999 (13 years ago!). It started as a journal of sorts, a collection of Dear Baby letters that I wrote during my pregnancy. They are now saved on Damaris’ blog - The Wardrobe: It’s Bigger On the Inside.

Then I had a blog on Xanga (anyone remember Xanga?) and I think I called it C.C.’s Chattings or something silly like that. I also had another blog on Xanga for awhile about my knitting. I think I called it Crafting with C.C. or something.

I moved over to WordPress back on March 25, 2008. I called my blog LorelaiCC for quite some time. Lorelai is my favorite character from one of my favoritist TV shows, Gilmore Girls. And C.C. is my name, so put that together and you get LorelaiCC.

As I shifted some of my focus to posting (or trying to post) more about fibromyalgia and being gluten free, I wanted something a little more serious. I loved my tagline of: my journey as a Christ follower, wife, Mamma, and fibromyalgia fighter. So, I Twitter DM’d one of my BBF's (Best Blogging Friends) Jamee to get her suggestions. Out of thin air, she instantly suggested I’m On My Way. I love that it fits with my tagline of being on a journey, you know, because if you’re traveling somewhere, you say, “I’m on my way.” So it just fit!

So, I’m on my way. It’s about the journey, not necessarily the destination! And I continue on the journey every single day!

  1. Good morning. I was reading your post from subscription and have to comment that 'On My Way' is a wonderful blog name. It always reminds me of a very old song that my DH loves to mention: "If you get there [heaven] before I do, tell them I'm on my way!" You are so right that it is a journey each day. :-)
I've no plans to become a writer, other than my reviewing, which was why I started blogging in 2009.
I enjoy reading your writing exercises even if I don't comment often.
May you have a blessed Resurrection Day!

  2. Thanks for reading and commenting Martha! I think I've heard that song before, but it's been a long time. Thanks for the reminder. :) Blessings to you!

  3. Happy Bloggerversary! :) I was on Xanga (for about 5 minutes) 5+ years ago but I was there mostly to snoop on my teenaged son and his friends. Yes ... I was THAT mother! It inspired some interesting discussions. But I was there to snoop ... not to blog. My blogging began on BlogSpot from whence I exited to WordPress in 2010.

Enjoyed reading some of your journey!

  4. Thanks Beth! It's funny to go back and read some of those really random Xanga posts. And I think it's a good thing you were reading along with your teenaged son and his friends. I plan to do the same with Damaris. :)
