Damaris and I being silly!

OK, there's a more serious picture. LOL!

Let's see, three good things that have happened in the last 30 days. Well, the best one is that Russ, Damaris, and I decided that we are moving back to Abilene, Texas. We spent this past weekend there and it was just liking going home. We plan to move around the 15th of February. We're super excited! What else? Ummm, I've won several online giveaways - yarn, knitting pattern, t-shirt, Bible, books. Gotta love getting great stuff in the mail. Lastly, I've met some amazing women through this 30 day challenge. It's been neat to connect with each of yall these past 30 days. Thanks for joining in on the challenge.

A Prayer for Today

Holy and awesome God,
your Son's authority is found in integrity and living truth,
not the assertion of power over others.
Open our imaginations to new dimensions of your love,
and heal us of all that severs us from you and one another,
that we may grow into the vision you unfold before us.
Amen.

The 30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 28

The30DayBlogChallenge
Welcome to Day 28 of The 30 Day Blog Challenge hosted by me, C.C., here at I'm On My Way and my online BFF Jamee at A New Kind of Normal. Make sure you grab the 30 Day Blog Challenge button (use the code that's in the box below) to post in your blog post and once you publish your blog post, enter your link below so we can look at each other's posts.

Of course I can't just pick one favorite movie. That's much to difficult. But I'll limit myself to three starting with the 1995 Sabrina with Harrison Ford :)

And then we have the amazing Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie in Anne of Green Gables (and the sequel is really good as well - not a fan of the continuing story and I haven't watched a new beginning yet).

And we'll close with my favorite holiday movie, Irving Berlin's White Christmas. I can sing/recite the entire movie which annoys some people but I think it just shows my love of this wonderful movie! :D

The 30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 26

The30DayBlogChallenge
Welcome to Day 26 of The 30 Day Blog Challenge hosted by me, C.C., here at I'm On My Way and my online BFF Jamee at A New Kind of Normal. Today's assignment is to post a blog post in which you think back to how you were 5 years ago and then post about how you have changed since then. Make sure you grab the 30 Day Blog Challenge button (use the code that's in the box below) to post in your blog post and once you publish your blog post, enter your link below so we can look at each other's posts.

These pictures were actually taken in late 2006. On January 1, 2007, we moved from New Mexico to Abilene, Texas. Russ started school at Logsdon Seminary and I continued staying home with Damaris and homeschooling her. We found an amazing church home. We made some great friends. And within a few months, I decided to go back to school too. I also started the Couch to 5K program and ran some races and lost a good bit of weight. Healthwise, I was dealing with the migraines and some other issues, but the fibromyalgia didn't rear it's head until late in the year.

Now, 5 years later, we're living in New Mexico again, but going to Abilene tomorrow for the weekend. Russ and I both finished our M.Div. degrees. I spent 2 years as a hospital chaplain. I can no longer run because of my health. Fibromyalgia is so bad that I'm sidelined a lot of the time. Disability application is in my near future. God has taught me a lot though in these 5 years. Grace and peace are so important to me that the words are tattooed on my wrists. What does the future hold for me? I'm not totally sure, but I hope to be in a place eventually where I can still minister to others in some fashion.

The 30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 25

The30DayBlogChallenge
Welcome to Day 25 of The 30 Day Blog Challenge hosted by me, C.C., here at I'm On My Way and my online BFF Jamee at A New Kind of Normal. Today's assignment is to post a blog post about something that you miss. Make sure you grab the 30 Day Blog Challenge button (use the code that's in the box below) to post in your blog post and once you publish your blog post, enter your link below so we can look at each other's posts.

When I saw this topic on the list, I knew what I was going to write about. Little did I know it would fall on this specific day. What I miss is our three babies in heaven and our K.C. (failed adoption). Jordan Taylor, was due on earth May 1999, but was born into heaven September 1998. Micah Jayden was due on earth September 2001, but was born into heaven January 2001. Noah Avrey was due on earth September 2004, but was born into heaven January 2004. Kerioth Cherie was a foster/adoption placement in 2003 and sadly had to be moved to a new placement because of some things that happened in her life before she was placed with us. As time has passed, most days I can handle this, but there are days like today (when we lost 2 of our babies), when the grief is really strong. There is so much we missed ~ their births, their first words, their first step, starting school, birthdays, and there is so much more we will miss ~ first dates, learning how to drive a car, high school graduation, college, marriage... God has taught us many things and good has been made in allowing us to minister to many others who have gone through similar experiences. However, there'll never be a day I don't miss our kids. Mamma loves you!

The 30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 24

The30DayBlogChallenge
Welcome to Day 24 of The 30 Day Blog Challenge hosted by me, C.C., here at I'm On My Way and my online BFF Jamee at A New Kind of Normal. Today's assignment is to post a blog post about what's in your purse. Make sure you grab the 30 Day Blog Challenge button (use the code that's in the box below) to post in your blog post and once you publish your blog post, enter your link below so we can look at each other's posts.

This is the purse I'm currently using. I tend to change purses often though. I have several that I love so I just rotate through them.

This is an amazing purse organizer I picked up on sale just before Christmas. I love how easy it is to switch purses since I just lift this organizer out and move it to another purse (and then grab the few items that aren't in the organizer).

1 - the emptied out purse organizer (except for my debit card, driver's license, Starbucks card, library card, and some prescription discount cards) - numbers 2 through 8 are what's in the organizer
2 - my pink prescription sunglasses in their clear case
3 - my "Live Simply" owl pseudo-wallet - I keep receipts from the week and other items I use less frequently than what's in the organizer cards slots
4 - tissues
5 - business card case with my blog cards in it
6 - 2 notepads
7 - Burt's Bees lip balm
8 - pen and Sharpie pencil (have yall seen or used these Sharpie pencils? They are amazing! They use liquid graphite.)

9 - my "makeup" bag - you can go back to day 11 of the blog challenge to see what's inside it
10 - cell phone charger
11 - Bluetooth headset, charger, & instruction book (I don't use it very often so I usually need to look at the instructions LOL!)
12 - my medicine (pain pills)
13 - a portable food scale (it's pink!)
14 - my pink LED flashlight
15 - my keys with my Road ID bracelet attached (Road ID is like a medical alert bracelet but you an put all your info including a picture on a secure website - then in an accident or medical emergency, medical personnel can remove the metal plate from the bracelet and use the info on the back of it to go online or call in to get my medical information)

The 30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 23

The30DayBlogChallenge
Welcome to Day 23 of The 30 Day Blog Challenge hosted by me, C.C., here at I'm On My Way and my online BFF Jamee at A New Kind of Normal. Today's assignment is to post a blog post of 20 facts about you. Make sure you grab the 30 Day Blog Challenge button (use the code that's in the box below) to post in your blog post and once you publish your blog post, enter your link below so we can look at each other's posts.

1. I love, love, love, love, love the color pink. A huge portion of my clothes are pink. Lots of my shoes are pink. Lots of my purses are pink. My cell phone is pink. My Kindle cover is pink. My laptop has a pink skin. My computer mouse is pink. Lots of our house decorations are pink. But I'm sure this news didn't surprise any of you!

2. I name inanimate objects. There's my Kindle - Lorelai. My laptop - Sookie. My cell phone - Rory. Our SUV - Luke. (And if you didn't catch it, these are all names of characters from my favorite tv show Gilmore Girls)

3. In about a week and a half, I'll celebrate my 13th blog anniversary.

4. My dream car is a pink VW Beetle. I have a beautiful silver VW Beetle charm on my keychain. I also have a small model of a pink VW Beetle that sits on the dashboard of our SUV. One of these days! :)

5. I was a cheerleader my freshman year. Our colors were green, white, and gold and our mascot was the cubs. I have a picture somewhere if you're interested. LOL!

6. I love, love, love, love, love to read. And I'm a really fast reader too. Librarians who have never met me usually do a double take when they see me checking out a dozen or so books at a time. I love my Kindle Fire that I got though because it's so much lighter than a traditional book. Plus, my friend Laura posts a few times a week about books I can get for free for my Kindle so I haven't paid a single penny for a Kindle book yet. Wahoo!

7. I really enjoy doing crafty and creative stuff. I've had numerous hobbies over the years - plastic canvas needlepoint, cross stitch, latch hook, knitting, and I'm learning to crochet now.

8. Speaking of being crafty and creative, I listen a whole lot better when my hands are busy. That's why I knit (or now crochet) during church and during other meetings as well.

9. I'm a pretty good singer. Made all-state choir all 4 years of high school. Went to college with a music scholarship (although I changed my major after awhile). My mom, sister, and I used to sing together at church all the time. Damaris is a great singer too!

10. I'm a big time list maker! I constantly have numerous lists going and sometimes I even write things on my list that I've already completed just so I can mark them completed.

11. I have a dark brown round birthmark on my left outer thigh and a light puzzle shaped birthmark on my right hip.

12. Until about a year or so ago, Russ had never seen my natural hair color. I dyed it for 15 or so years and I dyed it every possible shade of red plus pink once. My hair is much lighter than before I started dying it and I've got grays coming in.

13. Russ and I got married exactly 2 weeks before my 20th birthday. He was 23. Damaris was born 9 days after I turned 22.

14. Russ and I have lived in 13 houses/apartments in our 14 years and 4 months of marriage. The really sad thing is we lived in 1 house for 4.5 years and another house for 2.66 years.

(at this point, I started asking Russ for ideas of what to post; I vetoed a TON of them LOL!)

15. Our bathroom is decorated in cartoon frogs. I really like frogs except I don't like real frogs, only cartoon ones!

16. I have two tattoos. On my right inner wrist is the word grace written in cursive. On my left inner wrist is the word peace written in Hebrew (so the actual word is shalom). I got these two tattoos as a reminder of the grace and peace that God extends to me as well as the grace and peace that others have extended to me. In return, they remind me of the grace and peace I want to extend to others.

17. Sometimes I laugh so hard that my face turns red, I end up with a pain in my stomach, I can't breathe, and even then I can't stop laughing. Russ resorts to telling me to think of specific really awful things to force me to stop laughing.

18. When we are on car trips anywhere out of town, I take my shoes off and rest my feet on the dashboard. So invariably, I end up getting toe prints on the inside of windshield. They aren't usually visible until the windshield gets fogged up. Russ claims that it is almost impossible to remove the toe prints from the windshield!

19. I am 5'4.5" tall. Damaris is 12 years old and is only about 1 inch shorter than me. I wear a size 8.5 or 9 shoe and Damaris has been able to wear my shoes for about a year already.

20. I am an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. I was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, and was raised to be a fan. I'm a fan even when they are losing. However, I'm not a real football fan (at least according to Russ) because Dallas Cowboys football is the only football I'll watch.
