25 Random Things

After being tagged about twenty gazillion times on Facebook to do this, I'm finally giving in.

1~ My favorite color is pink. Although Damaris reminded me this morning that my favorite color used to be yellow and it was hunter green for a while too. However, I am now committed to pink as if that is not obvious if you are around me for 5 minutes.
2~ I am addicted to the tv shows Gilmore Girls and LOST. I have named numerous inanimate objects after Gilmore Girls characters. I also demand that no one speak to me at all while watching LOST. It is the one tv show I cannot multi-task while watching. Anything else, I can knit or carry on a conversation or play on the computer or whatever, but with LOST, it must have my complete attention.
3~ I am also addicted to coffee. I drink about a pot every morning. I like it sweet though, thus my need for Splenda (sugar just won't do).
4~ I am also addicted to Diet Cokes. Preferably from Sonic because how can you not just love Sonic ice.
5~ My hubby Russ has never seen my natural hair color. Seriously! We've been married 11+ years and knew each other for 2 years prior to that & he's never seen it.
6~ I love big earrings. You know the kind that hit you in the face when you turn your head? Yep, those are the ones I wear.
7~ I like frogs, not real ones, but the cartoony looking cute ones. Our bathroom is full of frogs. My sister even gave me a frog themed Christmas gift including a stuffed animal frog that snores when you press it's hand, a prince frog votive candle holder, and a frog Christmas ornament.
8~ I have more online friends than I do real-life friends. It's hard to explain that sometimes when I'm telling someone about something about one of my online friends only to have explain that we've never met in real life.
9~ I love music that I can turn up loud and sing along too. I'll listen to almost any type of music. For example, as I type this, the Singers & Standards music channel is on the tv.
10~ I have two tattoos. They are both on my inner wrists. One says grace and the other says peace (shalom in Hebrew).
11~ I also have my nose pierced. It has a small pink stud in it (as if you would have guessed any differently).
12~ I love short haircuts. Russ on the other hand would prefer me to grow my hair long, but I have so much hair that it gives me migraines because of the weight of it. So I always come back to chopping my hair off short. And I love it!
13~ I'm a huge klutz! I own my own pair of crutches because I have to use them so often. Usually for a sprained ankle or a messed up knee. It's also atypical for me not have some kind of bruise on me but I rarely know what causes the bruises although I suspect it's the fact that I run into things like doors and walls a little too often.
14~ I homeschooled Damaris for 4.5 years before putting her in public school this past August. She is thriving well there!
15~ The reason we put her in public school is because I will be working full-time starting in August as a hospital chaplain and I won't have time to homeschool her anymore.
16~ We are relocating to Lubbock, Texas, in August for my hospital chaplaincy residency. My sister, brother-in-law, nephew, & niece live there.
17~ We are considering moving overseas after I finish my residency. 2010 could be an exciting year for us.
18~ I love, love, love purses! I have to purge about twice a year because I have so many. I change which purse I carry at least once a week.
19~ I love pointy toed high heels, but after reading #13, you should know that I rarely wear them.
20~ I am also addicted to the internet. My email is open 24/7 and I check it often. If I'm away from my computer, I typically check my email on my phone.
21~ Apparently, I have a very addictive personality. At least I'm not addicted to something bad for me like smoking or drugs.
22~ We think I have fibromyalgia. Long story about why we think that, but I'm not going for an official diagnosis until August when I have health insurance. Otherwise it will be considered a pre-existing condition.
23~ I'm going for a massage on Wednesday to see if that will help with the back, hip, and shoulder pain I'm having because of the fibromyalgia. I found a massage therapist who offers a student discount, so I'm excited to see if she can help me.
24~ I type around 100 words per minute. Russ handwrites his papers for school & I type them for him because I type so much faster than he does & it annoys me to watch him take so long to type.
25~ I am most thankful for the relationship with Jesus and for the wonderful family He has given to me in my husband Russ & our daughter Damaris.

Here's the spiel on how to do this if you want to post it as a Facebook note:
Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

(To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right-hand corner of the page), then click Publish.)

LOST - 5x03

Time for my thoughts on this week's episode. There are numerous sites that do recaps so I'm not going to do that, but I am going to share my thoughts on what happened.

*****SPOILER ALERT - IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED 5X03, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SPOILED!*****

Season 5, Episode 3 - Jughead
~The beginning totally freaked me out because I thought Penny was going to die giving birth. Recall that this is what happened to Ben's mom when she gave birth to him.
~Love, love, love that Penny & Desmond named their baby Charlie. I'm choosing to believe that they named him after Charlie from the Island and not after Charles Widmore.
~Not quite sure why there is no record of Daniel Faraday being at Oxford. That was a bit strange.
~Seeing the picture of Daniel & the woman that Desmond finds on the floor of the lab brings me to my biggest theory for this week. I believe that Daniel is Charlotte's father and that the woman from the picture is Charlotte's mother.
~The woman from the picture is Teresa Spencer. Has she been on the island? Seems that she might have been with the symptoms she's having.
~Teresa's sister, the white haired girl (not Mrs. Hawkings), looks remarkably like the woman from the butcher shop.
~We knew that Charles Widmore had hired Daniel Faraday to come on the freighter to the Island. However, it was shocking to me to find out that Widmore had funded his research for 10 years prior.
~My other big theory for the week is about Ellie, the young woman who along with a group of Others, capture Daniel, Charlotte, & Miles. I think that Ellie is actually Danielle, the French woman. I know others are saying that Ellie is Mrs. Eloise Hawkings, but I'm not sure I agree with that assessment.
~When Ellie says to Daniel, why have you come back? What are you doing here?, is she addressing Daniel specifically or simply saying this because she thinks he's part of the military.
~I'm leaning more towards Ellie knowing Daniel specifically, particularly when they go to see Jughead and she tells him she doesn't trust him, that she knew she couldn't trust him.
~Speaking of Jughead, there is a theory going around that Jughead was buried and surrounded by thick walls of concrete. See where I'm going? The button that Desmond was pushing every 108 minutes was to keep Jughead from exploding.
~I don't buy Daniel's statement that he is in love with Charlotte. He just doesn't seem to have that passionate type love for her that you would expect. Instead, I see it more as a fatherly love. Who knows?
~Really confused about the whole Others speaking Latin thing.
~Holy crap moment of the night - when we find out that Charles Widmore is on the island!!!!!!!!
~OK, the whole exchange between John & Richard - Richard does end up checking out John's story as we see him at the hospital when John is born. And in speaking with a fellow LOST lover earlier today, he suggested that when Richard comes to see John when John is about 6 years old, Richard becomes frustrated when John picks the knife as his, but that would make sense from what we know about John. He wouldn't pick Richard's compass because the compass belongs to Richard & John is simply returning it to him.

There's my thoughts for what it's worth. Tune in next week for my thought on 5X04 The Little Prince.

Wordful Wednesday

This is a picture of the hat I just finished knitting on Monday night. When I talked to my mom last week, she said my Grpa has been complaining that his head is cold at night. She said that he was wearing his baseball cap to bed one night. So I knitted this hat up quickly over the weekend. The weather hasn't allowed me to get it to the post office though. Hopefully tomorrow.

Bullet Point Sunday

another week has passed us by, can't believe we're coming up on February already
it's been a heartbreaking week with my friend Cindy losing her 14 year old son
had an amazing time of prayer this morning during our community time at church
feeling convicted lately about the need for me to spend more time in prayer
because my mind tends to wander very easily....what was I talking about again LOL!...I do best when I pray out loud, so I've been praying in the shower in the mornings
loved, loved, loved the LOST episodes this week; seen them twice already; lots of theories & even more questions
introduced Damaris to "Back to the Future" this weekend; she's ready to watch #2 & #3 already
the weather this week has been insane; highs in the 80*'s one day; highs in the 30*'s the next
apparently scarves are in fashion again; dug out my box with scarves & wore one today; bought 3 at Walmart with some of my Christmas money too
had a bit of a trying week with someone using Scripture to say some nasty things about me; Russ was such a support during all the mess; I'm so blessed to have him!
been trying some guided relaxation podcasts and they are really helping with my stress level (when I find time to do them that is)
today is 8 years since our Micah Jayden was born into Heaven and 5 years since our Noah Avrey was born into Heaven; my arms still yearn to hold them (and their sibling Jordan Taylor) every single day
another busy week ahead, have a blessed one friends!

LOST - Destiny Calls, 5X01, & 5X02

So here we go! The day we've been waiting for for what seems like forever!!!! LOST has begun! Last night, I was glued to the tv for the three hour premiere event. There are numerous sites that do recaps so I'm not going to do that, but I am going to share my thoughts on what happened.

*****SPOILER ALERT - IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED 5X01 & 5X02, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SPOILED!*****

First up, Destiny Calls. A very well put together recap show. I really liked how they dealt with all the key characters individually. It was so well done that someone who not seen a single episode of the first 4 seasons could have watched the recap show and be caught up enough to start right in on Season 5.

Season 5, Episode 1 - Because You Left
*The baby at the beginning of the episode - I think it might be Charlotte. However, have heard some others think it's Miles.
*Charlotte's nose bleed - another reason I think she's the baby. She's been on the island before and thus the time shifting is affecting her.
*The Arrow Station, that's a new one.
*Faraday in the Orchid - I kind of thought he might have been on the island before.
*About Faraday's theory of not being able to change the past, I think he's lying. I think he's trying to protect himself & Charlotte and if someone changes something in the past or future, I think he thinks it will affect him and Charlotte.
*Donkey wheel seen through the scan - so the Dharma Initiative did not put it there! So who did????
*Desmond being sent after Faraday's mom - why? And see my notes on the 5X02 for more about this.
*Who are the guys (Army? Military? What country?) shooting at Locke?
*Richard still throws me for a loop! Can't figure out the not aging thing!
*Yay for Ben flushing Jack's pills.
*Richard's compass he gives to Locke is pointing the wrong way.
*Who the heck ordered the blood test to determine if Aaron belongs to Kate? Is it something Ben did to try to get her to go back to the island?

Season 5, Episode 2 - The Lie
*Holy crap! What's with Ana Lucia showing up??? And her line to Hurley about Libby says hi. OMG!
*What exactly were in those poison darts that Sayid got shot with?
*I can't believe Hurley told his mom about the lie. And she actually believed him. Something must be said about a mother's love!
*And then Hurley turns himself over to the police when Ben shows up! What was Hurley thinking?????
*And who was shooting the flame arrows at those left on the island? Thank goodness that insane guy got killed though. He was driving me nuts & I couldn't deal with him being on the show all season.
*When Ben goes to the butcher shop, I think the number on the ticket he pulls is going to be the flight that gets everyone back on the island.
*A bit confused about why they kept showing the "three years ago" screen. They've never done that before to my recollection when they do flash backs.
*I think Ms. Hawking (the lady from the jewelry store when Desmond tried to buy Penny a ring) is actually Faraday's mother.
*How is she able to determine the temporary location? Does she know something the Whitmore doesn't?

Oh, and a series theory, I read somewhere this morning that there is a rumor that the final scene of the series has already been shot with Jack and young Walt. I think that might fit in with the comic book that Walt had in season 1.

There's my thoughts for what it's worth. Tune in next week for my thought on 5X03 Jughead.

Wordful Wednesday

This is a picture from about a year ago. Our friend Christine & her daughters Riley & Beka were over to hang out with us. We had planned to make gingerbread houses, but couldn't get the pieces to stand up, so we decorated the pieces instead. I made the piece Russ is holding for him. It's he handsome! Love ya Bubba!

Interview Me

Amy over at Journaling Back to Joy was interviewed on her blog a few days ago and offered to interview others if they so desired. I asked her to interview me & here are my questions and answers. And, if you want me to interview you - just read the instructions at the bottom of this post!

1) What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
a big cup of coffee, Gilmore Girls or LOST on the tv, & a great knitting project in my hands

2) Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
WOW! 10 years from now? Damaris will be 19 and hopefully in college. Russ & I will be celebrating our 21st anniversary. I hope that in 10 years, Russ will be done with his Ph.D. degree & will be teaching somewhere. I see myself as a chaplain. Whether that is at a hospital or a school or university is yet to be seen.

3) If you found a $10 bill in your purse, what would you do with it?
Hmmm, add a few more dollars to it & get a manicure. Now if you had said $25, I would definitely go for a pedicure.

4) What is one thing you want to be sure Damaris knows before she leaves your home?
That she is a beautiful, precious, child of God & that she is loved!

5) If you could meet one person - who's alive today - who would it be and why?
This is a tough one. Most would probably guess that I would say one of the actors or actresses from Gilmore Girls or LOST. But I think I would probably go with Marva Dawn - a Christ follower who has had many struggles because of her health but who continues to write & encourage.

For those of you who might want to be interviewed, here are the directions:
1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick the questions).
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Bullet Point Sunday

no church for us today b/c Damaris woke up running a fever and with a sore throat
went grocery shopping by myself this morning & it was such a peaceful experience; plugged in my mp3 player headphones and listened to a sermon while I shopped
I took an almost 4 hour nap this afternoon
it's been such a relaxing day since I have scheduled not to do schoolwork on Sundays this semester
spent a total of about 5 hours putting together a list of all my school assignments for the semester & then figuring out a schedule to get them all done
Damaris & I are excited about no school tomorrow; we're sleeping in lol!
my Grpa isn't doing well; we don't expect that he will make the 3 months the dr's have given him
I threatened to give up being online this week as it was a pretty tough one especially in one group I help to moderate
I'm pumped that I'll be watching the new season of LOST in less than 72 hours!
I decided to take a break from the acrylic fingernails I've been wearing pretty much non-stop for years now. I found out that my nail tech gives manicures for half the price I was paying for the acrylic fingernails and she does an awesome hand and arm massage as part of the manicure.
I found a massage therapist here in town that offers student prices. Expecting some extra money in a couple of weeks & then I plan to go get a massage to see if it will help with my back, neck, shoulder & hip pain.
Another busy week of school ahead. Have a great week yall!
