A Prayer for Today (27-Apr-14)

Mighty God,
in whom we know the power of redemption,
you stand among us in the shadows of our time.
As we move through every sorrow and trial of this life,
uphold us with knowledge of the final morning
when, in the glorious presence of your risen Son,
we will share in his resurrection,
redeemed and restored to the fullness of life
and forever freed to be your people.
Amen.

Happy Easter!

Easter in Edinburgh

Yesterday, we had the privilege of spending Easter at the home of our dear friends, Jeremy, Katy, and Noah. There were several others present and we had a lovely day full of food, laughter, Easter egg hunting, (and some knitting too!). It was a gorgeous day and we were so blessed to spend it with amazing friends!

Here's some pictures from the day:

Being Tourists in Edinburgh

Our friend Kate came to visit us last weekend. She was in London for work and then took the train up to visit us here in Edinburgh. We took advantage of her visit to play tourists. We visited our favourite local yarn shop, Ginger Twist Studio, the Conan Doyle Pub, the Sherlock Holmes statue, one of several double wide blue Police Boxes (as any good Whovian would do), Edinburgh Castle, and a final stop at Starbucks. It was a fast and furious time together, but we had much fun (other than the bitter cold and sharp wind that almost did us all in).

Here's some pictures from the day:

In addition, if you watch the most recent episode of Geeky Girls Knit, the video podcast that Damaris and I co-host, you will find our discussion of the day beginning at 22:16 and videos from the day beginning at 24:04.

A Prayer for Today (13-Apr-14)

Life-giver, Pain-bearer, Love-maker,
day by day you sustain the weary with your word
and gently encourage us to place our trust in you.
Awaken us to the suffering of those around us;
save us from hiding in denials or taunts that deepen the hurt;
give us grace to share one another's burdens in humble service.
Amen.

A Prayer for Today (6-Apr-14)

God of all consolation and compassion,
your Son comforted the grieving sisters, Martha and Mary;
your breath alone brings life
to dry bones and weary souls.
Pour out your Spirit upon us,
that we may face despair and death
with the hope of resurrection
and faith in the One
who called Lazarus forth from the grave.
Amen.

Can you believe we're already 1/3rd of the way through 2014? Wow! I wanted to write this post to check in on how March went with my goals for the year.

So, let's have a look at my 2014 goals progress:

Sweetness Cowl ~ From the Sweetness pattern by tincanknits. Knit on US9 (5.5mm) needles with Peace Fleece Worsted in the Antarctica White + Perestroika Pink colourways. I received this yarn in a swap and this pattern appeared as the perfect one for it. I love how it turned out!

Sowing the Seeds Cowl From the Sowing the Seeds Cowl by Zena Perry. Knit on US5 (3.75mm) needles with Wandering Wool Rock Creek Sock in the Aurora Borealis colourway. This is a gift for a friend. I loved this pattern. I was gifted it by the designer who is my friend Zena. And, I have enough yarn left in this colourway to knit another one!
