Health Time Capsule

Today is day 1 of the WEGO Health ~ The Health Activist Writer's Month Challenge 2012. I will be writing a post everyday this month and each will in some way focus on what life is like with fibromyalgia (as well as other health issues including migraines, hypothyroidism, and polycystic ovarian syndrome).

If I were creating a time capsule about my health issues and myself, I think it would be this blog. Especially in the last year, a large part of my blogging has been about life with illness (although I still blog about other things like family photos, gratitude, reviews and giveaways, and fun challenges). There are videos and photos and angry rants and helpful suggestions and a lot of what day to day life looks like living with chronic illness.

Sometimes I am in such a low place that it's hard to get the words out. Sometimes the words just flow from me. And all of it is me, who I am, my life. Some days I'm not a very good fighter. Some days I just want to give up and crawl into bed and never get out again. Some days though, I am strong in my desire to beat this disease.

Even though my life looks far from what most would consider normal, I am finding my new normal. Slowly, but surely. Some days it's more normal than other days. But still I am pressing on.

I hope by the time this "time capsule" is looked at again in 100 years, in 2112, that there will be a cure for this disease. I also hope that much as I talked about in my Stream of Consciousness Sunday post for this week, that health care will be a right for all, not just a privilege for those who can afford it.

What do you think? What would be in your time capsule? Where do you see health care being in 100 years?
