Pinterest Challenge Project #1 - Yarn Wrapped Letters

I have so many amazing things pinned on Pinterest that I struggled to chose my first project. After much debate, I finally settled on this happy little pin on my Inspired board.

Clicking on the pin took me to the Crazy Domestic blog. This post on making Yarn Wrapped Letters is actually a guest post from Bailey at Let Birds Fly. I decided to do a monogram for Russ and I.

My first lesson from this challenge is that I should read the directions more thoroughly. You see, these are the non-block, very curvy letters I purchased.

These curvy letters made things very difficult as I tried to finish the yarn wrapping as the yarn slipped around way too much!

Anyway, here is the yarn I used to wrap the letters (pulled from my knitting yarn stash).

After trying many techniques, tying the yarn on the back of the letters, weaving the yarn along the back of the letters, pulling my hair out, etc., Damaris came to the rescue by finding a tube of super glue (my glue gun is in storage since we're temporarily living with friends) and I was able to fix the parts that were slipping.

Here's my final project. It's hard to tell on the brownish wall, but the A is a cream colored yarn (the R is red yarn [Russ' favorite color] and the C is pink yarn [my favorite color, but you already knew that, right?????!!!!!]). It's currently hanging on the wall above our bed.

Now, I need your help! Should I put a frame up around the letters (as a whole) like the original poster and creator of the project did here?

This was a mostly fun experience and I can't wait to start on my next project.
