Today's Challenge:
Write a few sentences about anything. Then change the tenses like I did above. (present, past, future)
Present:
It's finally here! Today is the day I've been looking forward to ever since we made the decision to move back "home" to Abilene. You see, although we have been able to reconnect with various friends since our return, the nine of us have not been all together in about 2.5 years. Lauren is in town and we are having lunch together with Abby, Cody, Krystal, Mike, and Madeline! Six of us sat in classes together, shared jokes in the offices, celebrated engagements and weddings and passing the tests that those professors must have conspired together to worry us all during our days of seminary. The only thing that could make today even better is if Amanda and Paul could join us. I cannot wait to sit together around the table, to hear the trills of laughter, to share the warm hugs, to be part of the conversation. It is as if the pages of the calendar have not been ripped off. That is our friendship.
Past:
It had finally arrived! Today was the day I had been looking forward to ever since we had made the decision to move back "home" to Abilene. You see, although we had reconnected with various friends since our return, the nine of us had not been all together in about 2.5 years. Lauren was in town and we had lunch together with Abby, Cody, Krystal, Mike, and Madeline! Six of us had sat in classes together, shared jokes in the offices, celebrated engagements and weddings and passing the tests that those professors must have conspired together to worry us all during our days of seminary. I could not wait to sit together around the table, to hear the trills of laughter, to share the warm hugs, to be part of the conversation. It was as if the pages of the calendar had not been ripped off. That was our friendship.
Future:
It's almost here! It will be the day I have looked forward to ever since we made the decision to move back "home" to Abilene. You see, although we have been able to reconnect with various friends since our return, the nine of us have not been all together in about 2.5 years. Lauren will be in town and we will have lunch together with Abby, Cody, Krystal, Mike, and Madeline! I think you did that really well! Hope you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteThanks Beth! I'm hoping to get some rest tomorrow. Had a busy day today too.
ReplyDeleteHey C.c.....Great topic! How I miss those old times with friends as well.
ReplyDeleteMy only comment would be that I was a little confused as it seemed that there was more than one tense in the paragraphs. For example in the Present paragraph you wrote about the past when remembering what the friends use to do together. Also, the future was mentioned when you wrote I cannot wait to sit together?..so even though the dinner is in the present as in today, it's not right now. Know what I mean? What do u think?
That was my struggle Patti because I wanted to talk about what had formed our friendship while still looking at the tenses. Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteI figured you did...unfortunately I'm not sure what u do, or maybe it's fine ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Thankfully it's not a school assignment and we're not getting graded Patti or else I would be really stressing out about now. :D
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that people wouldn't even notice if they weren't aware of the assignment!
ReplyDeleteVery true! :)
