Day 13 of 100 Days of Blogging

What a blessing it was to worship today! Our service this morning was about community utilizing the passage in Acts 2. Our worship leader Kirk introduced to a new song this morning by Blue Tree called "God of This City." He shared the story behind the song which made it all the more awesome. Here are the lyrics:
You're the God of this city,
You're the King of these people,
You're the Lord of this nation
You are
You're the light in this darkness,
You're the hope to the hopeless,
You're the peace to the restless
You are

For there is no one like our God
There is no one like You, God

Greater things have yet to come,
Greater things have still to be done in this city

You're the Lord of creation, the Creator of all things,
You're the King above all kings, You are
You're the strength in the weakness,
You're the love to the broken,
You're the joy in the sadness,
You are

With outstretched hands and hearts alive
We've praise for You and love for You
In this city

Then, this evening was such an awesome experience. Our church, Crosspoint Fellowship is still a baby church, just having been in existence for about 5 years. However, we celebrated a huge milestone for us tonight when we ordained our Teaching/College Pastor Meredith Stone. This was the first ordination service for our church and yes, we did ordain a woman! It was so wonderful to listen to Meredith's story and see where God has brought her. I can so relate to part of her journey as a woman who was raised in the Baptist tradition where in most situations, women are not in ministry positions. I'm so thankful for a church that recognizes that God can and does call women to serve Him and that Damaris is being raised in a church that is an example for her of what God can do in all of our lives! Praising Him for such a blessed day!

  1. I am so glad that you liked the Crosspoint ordination. I have yet to meet Meredith, but I would like to soon! Hope this week goes quickly and not as stressful as last week! At least, I am hoping. Can a girl not dream? Have a great week!!! :)

  2. I think that it's wonderful that your church ordained a woman in ministry! It is a blessing to be able to raise your daughter in a church where women are affirmed in their calling by God instead of shoved aside because of man's pride.
