So, I've made it 1/5th of the way through this 100 days of blogging. I'm surprised that I'm still able to come up with things to blog about.
Anyway, as I twittered about after we got out of church this morning, grace keeps coming up in my daily life. Today it was in the story of Stephen in Acts 6 and 7. The verse that caught my attention was Acts 6:8 which says, "Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people."
We briefly discussed during the "sermon" (for those who don't know, the service we attend is very conversation oriented and we talk back and forth with our pastor while he talks) what grace looks like. But I'd love to hear from others. So, the question to comment on today is,
What does grace look like to you? How would you define or describe a person who is full of grace?
I know that we hear a lot about people who who never seems to get rattled and we never see sweat. We like to say that such persons have "grace" under pressure. However, I prefer to think of someone who is very long-suffering and forgiving (maybe literally "giving for" others), extending favor and goodwill to those who may not deserve it.
ReplyDeleteGreat question! Grace is my Kait's middle name. It was only by God's grace that we were able to have a little girl. It's only by God's grace that I can handle this full of life, tempermental, opinionated 8 year old girl of mine!
ReplyDeleteTo me grace is being able to overlook all the garbage in life and be loving anyway. God overlooks our sins and loves us in spite of our selves. He gives me the benefit of the doubt and gives me the ability to do the same to others.
Ok - so I just woke up from a nap and I completely reserve the right to come back and add to or subtract from that last paragraph after coffee.
And why is it that 1/5 sounds like so much less than 20%?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement! Grace to me means being able to accept what God has given to me. Sometimes HE gives me grace for what I do not know and need to learn about him. Grace can also mean having mercy on something/someone. God has mercy on all of us because HE knows that we mess up and HE does not give up on us.
