Day 87 of 100 Days of Blogging

I've been saying for forever that I wanted to get a tattoo. I debated for a long time about what I wanted to get and finally narrowed it down to either the word grace or faith on the inside of my right wrist. Yall voted on it and I decided on the word grace. I just haven't had the courage to get it done. Well, yesterday morning, I took the initiative and e-mailed an artist at the tattoo shop. He e-mailed me back and said I didn't need an appointment and to come in any time. I guess when you're getting something as small as I wanted, no appointment is necessary. LOL!

So, we got out of class yesterday afternoon a little bit early. I told Russ that if I was going to get this done, I was going to have to do like I did when I got my nose pierced and just go right now before I lost my nerve. So, I headed to the tattoo shop. When I got there, the artist was finishing up another tattoo and said he had an appointment for a large piece scheduled in a little bit, but that he didn't think the appointment was going to show up. So I wandered down to another shop I love to visit and browsed for a bit and then went back to the tattoo shop. The appointment had not shown up, but the artist needed a bit longer to finish up the tattoo he had been working on. So we decided on a time about 45 minutes later than I would come back. I ran to another shop a friend had told me about to buy some hairbows for baby Lola (my niece who is due in October). Got back to the shop and it was my turn.

The guy could tell I was a nervous wreck. I had fingernail indents in the palms of my hands. He drew up the design and talked some small talk trying to get me to calm down. I hate needles and did not know what to expect at all. For the most part, the pain wasn't too bad. There were a couple of spots where I was ready to scream but I practiced some deep breathing (I knew that yoga would come in handy!) and made it through. Got the aftercare instructions and headed home anxious to see what Russ and Damaris would think.

Damaris was at the door waiting for me and instantly pronounced my new tattoo as beautiful! LOL!! Russ didn't use the word beautiful, but did say that he liked it.

So, now, without further ado, here is what yall have been waiting for - PICS OF MY NEW TATTOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. YAY!! I love it!

I'm planning on getting Caedmon and Presley's footprints on the inside of my wrist.

So, lay it out for me, how painful was it? I mean...I've given birth to a 10lbs baby and I've had my tongue pierced, so I figure I can handle it...I just need to know how bad it's going to be! LOL

  3. Very nicely done, and a constant reminder of His grace. Something of which we all need to be reminded time and time again...although maybe not with a tattoo. ;)

  7. So...now what are we going to do when the kid wants a tatoo? And yes, I do think it is beautiful.

  8. See, you just never know when that Yoga stuff will come in handy. I do like it though. You are way tougher than me. Right there on the wrist, looks like that would have hurt. I don't know. I am a big chicken. How in the world did I have two kids naturally without an epideral (sp), see I can't even spell it. Way to go girl.

  9. You are so brave to go through the pain, Lorelei. :)

I'm not a tattoo person, but even if I wanted one the thought of the needle would stop me cold!

  11. Your Tattoo is very awesome. I like it. I do not think that I will ever decide that getting one is for me though if I did I would maybe do about the same thing. It is a great reminder. Have a Blessed weekend. Take care.
