Day 71 of 100 Days of Blogging

Because Lori asked about it, I'll tell yall that we made over $300 at the yard sale on Saturday. Woo-Hoo! It's enough to pay for my registration fee & 30 classes of yoga plus replace Russ' bike that was stolen with alot left over!

jon kate plus 8So, after finishing my paper last night, I crawled into bed and couldn't sleep. I channel surfed and came upon an episode of Jon and Kate Plus 8 that I hadn't seen. I was sobbing by the end of it. Kate talked alot about how quickly the kids are growing up. She mentioned that a friend told her that after her kids were grown, the things they remembered were the silly little things like being able to have ice cream for dinner once every summer. Do you have any traditions like that that you implement with your family or that you remember from when you were a child?

  1. When I grew up, Friday night was "Stay Up Night" and we continue that with our boys. However, stay up for me was all of 9pm and we often send the boys to bed at 11pm.
I think I'm going to find a new small ones to start anew!

  2. We have a "pool party" with JUST the family. Mom and dad make dinner and then the kids and parents hang in the pool! We do this A LOT in the summer, but it is FUN!!! :)

  3. When I was growing up, we had Saturday nights that we made "from scratch" pizza as a family. It was a lot of fun and a tradition that I remember fondly.

Joel and I snuggle up with the kids on our bed every night before bedtime and we have a children's classic that I read a couple or three chapters to them. We are currently reading Peter Pan. They LOVE it!
