The Post In Which There's Something Old & Something New

Well, now that the move to Scotland is decided (if you missed that big announcement, click here to see it), we've been sorting through boxes to discover what we can get rid of, what we can sell, what we want to keep, etc.

As Damaris & I did some sorting today, we ran across a picture frame with a picture of Damaris and an audio recording of her saying her full name & her age of 2 years old. I saved it into a video so that we'd be able to keep it.

We also happened onto my wedding dress & veil. Damaris begged to try them on. I told her she has a long time to go until she can even think about getting married. LOL!

Just thought I'd share this something old & something new with yall. :)

The Post In Which I Check In On Create

One month ago, I shared that my word for this year is create. I also shared some goals to go along with my word create. I thought that today, one month in, would be a good time to check in.

2013oneword

~Design & publish at least six knitting patterns.
*Waiting to hear on one pattern I submitted for publication.
*Writing & knitting another pattern right now.
*Have an idea for the third pattern, but it's only in the sketching stage.

~Knit enough pairs of socks that I can stop wearing store bought ones.
*Three pairs completed, but I can only share two of them because one is the aforementioned pattern I've submitted for publication. See below for the other two pairs.

~Knit my second ever sweater.
*Looked through some patterns. Haven't found the right one yet. The actual knitting probably won't start until Septemberish.

~Knit at least six preemie hats to donate to charity.
*1 down, 5 to go. See below for #1.

~Consistently journal.
*I think I missed 1 day in January, but going strong on this & being blessed by it.

~Continue keeping a list of the eucharisteo/gifts/joys/Thanksgivings in my life.
*Going strong with this one as well.

The Post in Which I Think Creatively

2013oneword

As I shared yesterday, my word for 2013, my theme, is create. I'm not 100% sure what that looks like but I have a few ideas in mind and thought I'd share them with yall as well as record them to look back at this time next year.

~Design & publish at least six knitting patterns.
This might mean submitting them to be published in a knitting publication (whether online or in print) or self-publishing. Pattern #1 is already in the midst of this.

~Knit enough pairs of socks that I can stop wearing store bought ones.
I wear socks almost all the time (except when I sleep, weird, I know, but I can't stand to wear socks when I'm sleeping) and hand knit socks are so much more comfortable and they make me smile when I look at my feet and know that each stitch is something I did myself.

~Knit my second ever sweater.
In 2012, I knitted my first ever sweater Ruby's Bookstore Sweater. I love it so much! I have a gazillion sweater patterns in my Ravelry queue and I want to knit at least one of them this year. Now, to pick which one!

~Knit at least six preemie hats to donate to charity.
I designed and published a pattern in 2012 for a Top Down Preemie Hat. I want to knit more of this pattern (or another one I design) to donate to charity this year.

~Consistently journal.
In the last few weeks, I have begun journaling again. It has been a very relaxing and calming thing for me. I have really missed doing it and am enjoying doing it again. I want to journal at least three times a week if not more often.

~Continue keeping a list of the eucharisteo/gifts/joys/Thanksgivings in my life.
I began this list two years ago after reading One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are by Ann Voskamp. My list has grown to over 1600 joys and I can't wait to count many, many more in the year ahead.

~???? - What else?????
I'm not sure. Suggestions? Ideas? Feel free to comment. We'll see what happens in the year ahead! Most of all, I just can't wait to create in 2013!
