The Post in Which Jekyll & Hyde Are At Home Here

Finished Project
Jekyll & Hyde Socks ~ Finally finished this amazing pattern by Sarah Wilson. I love that the pattern can look very proper when done in a yarn that is a solid color or with subtle tonal changes, but then they can look scary, crazy good with a wildly variegated yarn. They were knit on US 1 (2.25 mm) needles with Vice Yarn in the Amazingly Amy colorway. They took me about a month to knit (I worked on several other projects concurrently).

Current Works in Progress
Junction ~ leethal mystery shawl 2012 ~ I'm currently working on Lee Meredith's pattern, Junction ~ leethal mystery shawl 2012. I'm knitting on US 5 (3.75 mm) needles with Crystal Palace Yarns Panda Superwash in the Bittersweet colorway, Knit One Crochet Too Crock-O-Dye in the Candy colorway, and Lucci Yarn Sequins in the Cranberry (except it's not Cranberry, it's more like Hot Pink!!!!! But definitely Not Cranberry!!!!!) colorway. This is a 5 week mystery knit-a-long. I've completed the first 3 clues. Clue 4 will be released on Monday.

All the Shades of Truth ~ I'm currently working on Laura Aylor's pattern, All the Shades of Truth (a color-block stole). I'm knitting on US 7 (4.5 mm) needles with Kraemer Yarns Perfection in the Sprout, Fluff, Butterfly, Valentine, & Bloom colorways. It's about 70% complete.

Currently Unnamed Shawl ~ I'm working on a shawl that I designed. Pattern will be published in the future. I'm knitting on US 8 (5mm) needles with Knit One Crochet Too 2nd Time Cotton in the White Tea & Amethyst colorways. It's about 35% complete. You can get a sneak peek of it in the most recent episode of the video podcast that Damaris & I co-host together, Geeky Girls Knit ~ Episode 8 - In Which We Discuss Gifts & English Lessons.

The Post in Which We Remember

As some of you know, our family is larger than what you see in a photograph of us. It's not just Russ, C.C., & Damaris.

Because you see, three of our children have preceded us in their journey to Heaven. I tell our story in more depth in this blog post. Jordan Taylor, Micah Jayden, & Noah Avrey are our precious little ones who have seen Heaven before us.

Today, October 15th, is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day. So on this day, and every day, we remember Jordan, Micah, & Noah. And if you have walked a similar journey, we remember your precious child(ren) with you.

Glory baby you slipped away as fast as we could say baby...baby...
You were growing, what happened dear?
You disappeared on us baby...baby...
Heaven will hold you before we do
Heaven will keep you safe until we're home with you...
Until we're home with you...
Miss you everyday, Miss you in every way
But we know there's a day when we will hold you
We will hold you
You'll kiss our tears away, When we're home to stay
Can't wait for the day when we will see you
We will see you
But baby let sweet Jesus hold you 'till mom and dad can hold you...
You'll just have heaven before we do, You'll just have heaven before we do
Sweet little babies, it's hard to understand it 'cause we're hurting
We are hurting, But there is healing
And we know we're stronger people through the growing
And in knowing - That all things work together for our good
And God works His purposes just like He said He would...
Just like He said He would...
I can't imagine, Heaven's lullabies, and what they must sound like
But I rest in knowing, that Heaven is your home
And it's all you'll ever know...

The Post in Which I Share My First Knitted Sweater

Happy I Love Yarn Day! Grab some yarn & needles & enjoy the day. Happy Knitting!

Finished Project
C.C.'s Ruby's Bookstore Sweater ~ The weather was finally cool enough this past weekend to wear my first knitted sweater. I actually completed it back in July, but of course Texas weather would not cooperate for me to wear it. The pattern, Ruby's Bookstore Sweater, is from a novel by Rachael Herron. It took me about 1.5 months to knit (I worked on several other projects concurrently). It was knit on US 7 (4.5 mm) needles with Berroco Comfort Solids & Heathers in the Rosebud colorway.

Current Works in Progress
Amazingly Amy Jekyll & Hyde Socks ~ I'm currently working on Sarah Wilson's pattern, Jekyll & Hyde Socks. I'm knitting on US 1 (2.25 mm) needles with Vice Yarn in the Amazingly Amy colorway. They are about 75% complete.

The Post in Which I Am 35

It's my birthday. As of today, I'm 35. Yep, halfway between 30 and 40. 30 was awful for me. I wouldn't even say that I was 30. I called it Twenty-Ten. Yuck! But 35. It's ok. I'm accepting that life isn't what I thought it would be. I have a new normal. I'm a wife, a Mamma, a knitter, a friend, a fibromyalgia fighter. Another year has passed. A new year ahead. So, it's my birthday. I'm 35. And that's ok. Happy birthday to me!
